My name is Metee Kansa. I am a teacher of English, now at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Unbon RathChathani University, Thailand. I was born in a poor farmer family in Lau Sue Kok, Ubon but managed to make my way to a university. I received my first degree from Srinakrintrwirote in Bangkok, and got my doctoral degree from Ball State University, Indiana, America. I think that I have been given enough, so I think it is time to return something to the community. However, I have my own ways, which seem unfortunately too different for others. Nevertheless, I strongly believe that I am not at least as selfish as before, and mostly I do want to help others, especially the underprivileged ones. I knew they need some help because I was one of them. That is why I often go back to my village and work with children there when I have my free time. Even though my village is not a tourist spot with beautiful scenery, the people there are friendly and there are stories waiting to be discovered. Most of all, it is open for those who would like to learn about real Thai and who is willing to take part in villager empowerment
